Parent Support & Resources

Raising the next generation of leaders and change-makers is a team effort! As you serve a key role in supporting your child’s success, we want to help you. You can always refer back to this page or to your homeroom teacher if you have any questions along the way.

5 Steps to Create the Perfect Learning Space

Step 1
Find a Quiet Space

A quiet space is not just necessary for tests and DBAs—a distraction-free zone is vital to everyday learning.

Step 2
Ensure Good Lighting

Good lighting helps students read easily without eye strain and is also helpful for better video quality when they need their camera on.

Step 3
Have a Dedicated Workspace

The flexibility of laptops can be fun—but if a student has a workstation, other than on the couch or in bed, they may have a better time focusing on their lessons. Working from a desk can also have the benefit of utilizing equipment like dual monitors.

Step 4
Keep Essentials Handy

School supplies like pens, pencils, notebooks, and a power supply should always be handy.

Step 5
Post a Calendar & Follow a Schedule

Filling out a planner week-to-week, using the FVHS Weekly Planning Template or by creating a shareable online calendar, can change the game.

Important Resources

Live Lesson Calendar

Help your student organize each week by creating a schedule. You can start by viewing the Live Lesson calendar and filling these times into your planner. Then add in planned events.

Student Gradebook

We recommend you check in with your student on their progress throughout the week. Choose at least 2 days out of the week together where you will log in with your student under their Student Account in Educator and review the status of their assignments in Gradebook.
